We're playing with The Redwalls on August 3rd in Dallas.

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing wonderfully. We've been staying busy as usual. We've got lots of shows coming up. We have a handful of local shows before we head out on tour. All you DFW people better get your butts off the couch and come see us before we leave.

We just found out that we will be playing with The Redwalls on August 3rd at The Cavern in Dallas.
This is GREAT news!
I love those guys. The proof of my love for this band is on The Redwalls sticker I have on my cell phone. . . really. We first saw them when they came through town with Hot Hot Heat at Trees in Dallas.
Anyway, we're really, really excited about playing a show with a band we enjoy so much.
So, August 3rd at The Cavern in Dallas.
We hope to see you there!

-Ryan

Touring with our friends Calhoun/The Dallas music scence

Hello Everyone,

I know it's been a while since Jencey or myself have written anything in the old blog here. We'll it's time for that to change.
We're currently getting things in order for our tour in September with our friends in a band called Calhoun. We are SO excited about this little tour. It's going to be nice to visit some of the cities in the midwest and up north that we've wanted to play for such a long time. We have a few shows around Dallas/Ft Worth before then which will be great. I've notice a bit of a resurgence around here in the Dallas music scene. It makes me really happy to see people out supporting local music for a change. Maybe we can salvage the local music scene after all. When Trees and Gypsy Tea Room shut down I really wasn't sure how things were going to turn out. I was worried that all the great bands were going to move away to cities who gave a damn. There was a while there where we even entertained the idea of moving to Chicago, but Dallas will always be home. Anyway, it warms my heart to see people going to shows in Dallas again. Keep it up people. We need you.

We Love You All. Thanks for your continued support of our music.

-Ryan

P.S. Here's some video of our friends Calhoun performing acoustic on a T.V. program at the Sundance Film Festival. It's a great song called "These Are The Dead days"

Show at The Cavern. PLUS, 2 More BRAND NEW Songs!! and "The Proposition"

First of all, thanks to all of you who came out to our Tuesday night show in the rain at The Cavern in Dallas. We had such a great time!
We thought we would share some video from the show of two brand new songs. They're called "Goodbye Caroline" and "Nothing To Lose".

Also, I'm a sucker for good "western" movies and I recently saw a FANTASTIC movie called "The Proposition". If you're a fan of movies like "Tombstone", "Wyatt Earp" etc. . . then definitely check out "The Proposition" with Guy Pearce. It was really, really good. I know the Smile Smile blog isn't really the place for my movie recommendations, but, what the hell. I also just noticed how many "quotes" there are in this "post" " " " ". . . . . CRAZY!

Anyway, back to new songs and videos.
Here ya go.
Enjoy!

Placebo on the brain!! I LOVE IT

Ok, so lately I've been completely consumed with one of my favorite bands, Placebo. Not only did I get to interview one of my musical heroes, I now get to go see them at Edgefest tomorrow here in Dallas. I'm lucky enough to have the opportunity get to hang out backstage at the show and I CAN'T WAIT!! A few people have told me that they think it's strange that I like Placebo so much. Well, the music I make with Smile Smile may not sound too much like anything Placebo does, but that doesn't mean that Brian Molko hasn't affected me as a songwriter. There's something about the way he can create a mood with a Placebo song. When I hear songs like "Without You I'm Nothing" I feel like it transports me to a different place. I think that's what a good song should do, it should create a mood and take you somewhere. Placebo was one of the first bands to really do that to me. Long story short, I love 'em and I can't wait to see their show tomorrow!!

Brian Molko Interview

Exciting news this week...Ryan held an artist to artist interview with Brian Molko (lead singer of Placebo for those a decade behind the times). You can pick up or view the article this Friday...April 13 on www.quickdfw.com or pick up a Quick if you live in DFW.

Highlights include: Brian's advice on how to succeed in music and WHY he thinks Placebo still hasn't "made it" in the US. Keep checking the blog..we will be posting audio of the interview shortly.

Brand new song. Brand new Music Video. "The Attic"

We snuck into the studio to record a brand new song called "The Attic". We weren't going to release it yet, but we're really proud of the song. We got a lot of great footage in the studio, plus we had some left over footage from our SXSW trip and we ended up with a brand new music video too.

Hope you like it!!

Here ya go.

This is the first post of the Smile Smile blog... so hello new and old friends. I hope everything you find in here will be interesting and entertaining. However, for those of you who know me (or for anyone who has seen a live show for that matter)....I am prone to saying some rather idiotic things at times.

I wanted to share with you some pictures that my amazing brother Daniel took at our last show. If you have any that you took feel free to send them to us (we'll even give you photo credit).

We have also posted new video of the show on You Tube which can be found....

Ryan and I were excited to bring in Cooper and Dave to play drums and bass for this show. Look forward to many more like this.

I am guessing that Ryan and I will take turns updating this so it should be interesting to see how many debates we get into.

Talk to you all soon.
